The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

This sounds interesting. I think I'm going to check it out sometime soon :o) As for books making a person laugh/cry, one of my sisters--the one who never reads at all--asks me, "What?" every time I chuckle or something when I'm reading. She doesn't understand that reading is just like watching a movie to a lot of people. Because I laugh and cry during books, I don't think anything of it when I see other people do likewise...which isn't very often, I admit
I admit this book has me intrigued!
I just requested it from the library. I'll let you know what I think.
You got my interest as well. And I just checked out the tournament for the first time - seems interesting. Are you planning on reading all of the contestants?
That story made me laugh, and I can definitely relate. And you're right - it is just like watching a movie in that it's perfectly natural to laugh and cry during the experience! :)
I definitely look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! :)
I love the Tournament of Books - I followed it in 2007 & 2008, and it's a lot of fun even if you haven't read the books. I always enjoy reading the results of the match ups and how they compare each set of books. I don't try to read all the books first, in fact this is the first year I'm making a conscious effort to read a few more. The other one on the list that I've heard great things about and will consider reading is Netherland. I've also wanted to read The White Tiger for a while now (it won the Booker). But mainly the tournament just adds many books to my TBR list. :)
I just put it on reserve! Sounds like a fun read.
I hope you enjoy it too!
