Polysyllabic Spree October 2007
I read a few more books than usual this month, due to the glory of audio books. I listened to both the Augusten Burroughs books. I put my actual copies of the books in the picture though, somehow mp3 files are not as photogenic.
My stack of books purchased was rather high again, but that'll give me something to work toward in November.
As always, my complete Polysyllabic Spree can be found here.

Have a great weekend.
A couple quick comments...
I love the spine on How to be Alone. It's one of my favorites book jackets.
There were a couple days over the summer when I thought it would be a good idea to read Remembrance of Things Past. I went to the store to pick up a copy and found it's like 5,000 pages spread over 8 volumes (I might be exaggerrating a bit). I quickly kicked it off my list. Good luck with it!
I haven't read How to be Alone yet, but I've heard it's good. I found it for $2 at a used book sale at a library.
I highly recommend How Proust Can Change Your Life by Alain De Botton. It's fascinating... I loved reading more about Proust's ideas and life. De Botton gives many examples from Remembrance of Things Past and you end up with a good idea of whether you want to dive into it yourself or not. (I definitely do now.) Regardless of whether you decide to read Proust or not after finishing it, it's a great book on its own.
From what I've heard (from my Mom mostly, but also a few others), it's fun to visit Proust's world and dabble in it. My Mom has yet to finish the entire novel, but she has read several volumes and loves picking it up now and then for a Proust Vacation.
