What an great post! I'd never thought of breaking all the books up into figures like that! Well done on reading 87 books this year, quite an achievement. I'm jealous of your book signing events, especially Lisa See and Jeffery Eugendies!

Great post Emily! You are so lucky to live in a city with so many bookstores and book events...

That's a pretty high pages per day average. I'm impressed.

I think last year we discussed how you read an equal amount of books written by men and women. It's interesting that you read so many more female authors this year.
Thank you! :) I feel very lucky to get to go to so many book events - and Jeffery Eugenides and Lisa See were two of my favorite events last year.
Thank you! :) NYC is a book lover's paradise and I try to get out and enjoy the literary scene as much as possible. I hope to attend even more this year!
:) I know - it will be pretty hard to top 2008, but I'll certainly try!
I was thinking about that too. :) When I started tallying up male vs. female authors, I first thought male was going to be way ahead, since it was leading 2 to 1 through March. But I think because of the many series that I read (The Alice Books, Twilight books, Anne of Green Gables series, and The Gemma Doyle Trilogy) plus reading all 6 Jane Austen novels, helped put female authors way ahead by the end of the year.

It will be interesting to see how 2009 goes, so far female is leading 3 to 1, but I'm finishing up 2 books by male authors this week. :)
Well I'm glad that it is uneven in favor of women. :)

Wow, very impressive. I like the idea to take photos of the books you read. It seems like taking photos of the own children. Well, to me, there's not much difference. =)
There's not much difference to me either. :)
