2007 Books and Reading Recap

This is a great post. I'm especially impressed with your list of book events. You're lucky to have that scene where you live. There's very little going on in my town.

Now I've got to go add up all the pages in the books I read last year. It never occurred to me to do such a thing.

Wow. That is quite possibly the most impressive post I've ever read.

And I like that you employ gender equality in your reading.

This is a wonderful post. Makes me want to do something similar, although I'm somewhat embarrassed by how few books I read in the last few months of the year.

Good goals, too!

I did around 70 last year too......

And we all keep track of the books that we read, but the number of pages??!!?

That's funny.

I agree, I am very lucky to have all these wonderful events to go to. When I lived in Michigan the only people I ever got to meet were Michigan authors who would make an obligatory stop on their book tour. And even then I only met two authors in my entire 21 years in Michigan.

I don't know how long I'll live in New York, but I'm trying to take advantage of everything here while I can.
Thank you :)

I was quite surprised and pleased with how even the male and female split was. I do read a pretty balanced amount, but I didn't realized it was that balanced!
You should do something similar! We all go through reading slumps now and then....or just plain get crazy busy.
Ugh. I just looked and I only read 36 books last year. Depressing.
Haha, yes the number of pages is an odd stat. A friend does it and gave me the idea to start doing it myself. I already kept track of the books I read in a spreadsheet, so it was easy and fun to add a "pages" column to it.
I went through and counted by books and I was dead even: 22 male authors, 22 female authors. Interesting... But I don't think it's actual gender equality because the women authors were mostly from certain genres (like young adult).

My total for 2007 was 62,so I thought for a minute I wasn't too far behind you, but then I remembered that I also write down books that I read some of but didn't finish, and there were ten of those. They have to be disqualified, obviously, but I still like to record them because 1. It makes a more accurate record of my reading during a period; 2. I might want to finish reading them sometime; and 3. It keeps me from driving myself crazy trying to remember "what the heck the name of that book was."
